Naga Chaitanya, Anand Deverakonda heap praise on ‘2018’, ahead of Hindi, Tamil and Telugu version release

Malayalam-language drama, “2018” which has broken box office records, is set to get released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions on May 26. The Tovino Thomas-starrer was released in theatres on May 5 and raised over Rs 137 crore globally at the box office. “2018” narrates the story of the devastating Kerala floods that occurred in 2018 when people from all walks of life came together to survive the calamity.

Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, the Malayalam movie has become the fastest to gross Rs 100 crore at Kerala box office, according to film business analyst Taran Adarsh.

“Producer Anand Pandit is releasing the Malayalam blockbuster in Hindi version. Based on actual events, the Hindi version releases tomorrow (26 May 2023),” he tweeted.

Actor Naga Chaitanya called 2018 a ‘hard-hitting’ film. “Just watched 2018 Movie in Telugu . Such a beautiful film .. hard hitting and emotional . Don’t miss it this Friday .. big congrats to Jude Anthany Joseph. All of you were exceptional in every way,” he tweeted.

“2018” also stars Indrans, Kunchacko Boban, Aparna Balamurali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Asif Ali, Lal, Narain, Tanvi Ram, Sshivada, Kalaiyarasan, Aju Varghese, Siddique, Joy Mathew and Sudheesh.

In a statement director Jude Anthany Joseph said: “We are extremely proud of the film we have made and ecstatic with the response our film received until now from the critics and the audiences. Taking note of the warmth and love that’s been showered on the film, we have now decided to release ‘2018’ for our audiences nationwide”.

The film is jointly produced by Venu Kunnappilly, C K Padma Kumar and Anto Joseph It is distributed by Kavya Film Company.

Actor Anand Deverakonda, who is younger brother of Vijay Deverakonda, hailed the movie as “incredible “.

“Post interval is mind blowing and some sequences make you wonder on how they even shot it. Some sequences are racy, some others are emotional. After the preview, I asked the director, “How did you even shoot so many tough sequences? (includes a lot of flooding and water) He replied “3.5 years of hard work!” What’s commendable is they achieved a lot of it via practical effects. And even if graphics was used, you can’t point at any sequence and spot CGI on screen. Amazingly crafted and a great watch,” he tweeted. (With Agency Inputs)
