Nadiya returned to screens last night with her brand new show Nadiya’s Fast Flavours on BBC Two. The Great British Bake Off winner kicked off her new programme with her take on comfort food as she offered a unique interpretation on a macaroni cheese and shared her tried and tested family recipe for a beef vindaloo. Nadaya also made French toast with a twist, as she swapped the eggs for custard and the standard syrup for maple and pistachio crumbs.
Of course, the champion baker then rustled up an ice-cream cake, packed with fennel seeds and fresh blueberries.
Across the series Nadiya will also shine a spotlight on the country’s best cooks and food writers, and this yesterday food-writer Olia Hercules shared a recipe for a comforting Ukrainian vegetable and herb broth called borscht.
After Nadiya shot to national fame on The Great British Bake Off, she hosted BBC documentary ‘The Chronicles of Nadiya’ and TV cooking series ‘Nadiya’s British Food Adventure’.
She also became a regular contributor on The One Show.

The baker’s success culminated in her being honoured with the job of making the Queen’s 90th birthday cake and presenting it to Her Majesty.
Nadiya whipped up a triple-tiered orange drizzle sponge cake finished with purple and gold fondant, but before presenting the cake to the monarch, she admitted to making a bizarre protocol request.
Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show in February last year, Nadiya said: “So they sent an email and I thought it was a joke.
“I was in the middle of filming in Bangladesh my first travel documentary and I was trying to create these designs for the Queen’s cake.
Naturally the royal courtiers specified that Nadiya could not “chest bump” the Queen.
The baker continued: “So there are rules! Give me some rules, give me anything.
“Because then she just kind of turns up, there she is, there I am, with a knife.
“‘Hey Queen of England, fancy cutting some cake?’
“I thought this could end really badly, so I was really, really nervous.”
Nadiya revealed that her nerves were put at ease after the Queen introduced her to Prince Philip.
Nadiya added: “It all happened really quickly.
“Then Prince Philip ‒ I didn’t know that he was there ‒ sauntered over [and] she said ‘this is the young lady who won the baking competition.’
“I thought ‘that’s it, I’ve made it, the Queen just introduced me to someone else’. I thought that was amazing.
“And he said ‘yes dear I know who she is, but what flavour’s the cake?”
Nadiya told Jonathan Ross that she was “honoured” to have been asked to make the cake for the monarch’s landmark birthday, and added she didn’t “want to disappoint her”.
