UTSUNOMIYA — Months removed from playing in the Philippine Basketball Association, Bay Area’s spitfire guard Myles Powell still remembers the love he received while playing in Manila.

And he’s tapping into those memories to spur his play in the East Asia Super League’s Champions Week.

“I love the Philippines,” he told the Inquirer. “The Philippines is a second home to me. They will always have a place in my heart.”

Powell had 35.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists for Bay Area in the PBA.

And he has nothing been short of stellar, either, in the five-day showcase that features the best in the region.

The American had 25 points and eight assists in the loss to Seoul SK Knights, and then 17 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals in the 96-90 win against host Utsunomiya which had the club surviving in a tournament virtually made for it to play in.

Powell, turning candid, said he remains hopeful that his Bay Area stint in the Commissioner’s Cup won’t be his last.

“I hope that’s not my last time playing there,” he said of the PBA.
