Mykhailo Mudryk has dropped another Arsenal transfer hint as he watched their Premier League clash with Brighton and called Mikel Arteta a ‘top coach’.

Premier League leaders Arsenal look to be at the front of the queue to sign Mudryk, although their London rivals Chelsea have also joined the transfer race and are hoping to bring the Ukrainian to Stamford Bridge.

Mudryk has enjoyed a breakthrough season for Shakhtar Donetsk, scoring seven goals in the league and three in the Champions League.

The 21-year-old could be on the move in January although Shakhtar have slapped a £85m asking price on his head, having rejected a £55m bid from Arsenal in December.

Mudryk has not been shy of praising Arsenal and was an interested viewer on New Year’s Eve as Arteta’s side travelled to Brighton looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

The Ukraine international posted a short video on Instagram which showed him watching the game with the caption ‘2 top coaches’.

Mudryk is clearly an admirer of former Manchester City assistant manager Arteta and Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, who he worked under at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Arsenal were handed a timely boost just before their clash with Brighton as title rivals Manchester City dropped two points at home to Everton.

The Gunners took an early lead against Brighton, Bukayo Saka continuing his fine form with a goal inside two minutes.

Arsenal doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time through Martin Odegaard, before Eddie Nketiah added a third after the interval.

Despite dropping points to Everton, Man City boss Pep Guardiola was satisfied by his team’s performance and took a swipe at Frank Lampard’s tactics.

‘Great game. We played really good in the last three games and it makes me feel optimistic,’ Guardiola said.

‘Dropping points at home is always tough but I’m always trying to make our game good and we have continued to do it.

‘I would say they had eight in the back. In that situation it’s movement and attacking at the right moment. In general we did it.

‘We didn’t allow them transitions. They made a fantastic goal and when that happens you say congratulations but in general we did really well.’
