My Young Reporter Experience! By Prisha, GGSK
My Young Reporter experience has a been full of great learning.
The Young Reporter Scheme is a school programme that gives an opportunity to write a real newspaper online aged 14-18. The programme is eight months during school term, with different opportunities to grab along the way.
Doing Young Reporter is all about learning about the career of journalism, using facts, ideas, events, people side to their story and much more to be shown to the whole world. This creates an opportunity for young adults to learn about journalism and decide if this is a career option they would want to take.
Neel Sobhun in Year 10 who is doing ‘Young Reporters’ said, “I’ve been able to think about different topics and get ideas of what is going on in my area.” Arni Kumar has claimed “’Young Reporters’ to be very helpful for being more organised and makes me much more aware of things going on in the world.”
In my own opinion, ‘Young Reporters’ is a platform where a student can express its own feelings, however, they would put it in a form and a certain formal layout for their voice to be heard and other people voices could be heard such as Meghan Santhosh Kumar believing “it was an interesting experience, being able to write about interesting topics and being a journalist.”
