My wife was ‘fined £85 for parking outside pub’ even though she was a customer

A FURIOUS husband slammed Toby Carvery after his wife was slapped with a hefty parking fine for using its car park – despite being a paying customer.

Taking to Tripadvisor to leave a scathing review, John G, from Solihull, said the fine ruined his wife’s “enjoyable afternoon with friends”.

Spending the afternoon at the newly opened Toby Carvery in Hall Green, Birmingham, John said his wife happily left the restaurant after the meal with her pals.

But she was shocked to be handed an £85 parking fine just days later.

The blistering review, titled “Saddled with a huge parking fine,” saw John award the restaurant just one star after the parking fiasco.

He wrote: “My wife had a perfectly enjoyable afternoon with friends.

“However, ten days later, she has been presented with an 85 pounds parking fine. Please beware of this and avoid this establishment.”

The Hall Green Toby Carvery was recently reopened after undergoing a £500,000 facelift, and the restaurant’s management responded to the harsh review.

The restaurant’s assistant manager wrote back: “We’re disappointed to hear of the negative experience you had at our location.

“The car parking is not in place to catch any of our guests out its just in place for anyone who does unfortunately misuse it.

“We will certainly do everything we can to help you with this situation and if paying in a group we would be able to find the bill on the system or even check our CCTV footage.

“Please kindly ask your wife to pop into us with the letter of the fine and we can get this sorted for your wife. Kind regards Scott AM.”
