My son is being hounded over a £170 fine but dyslexia means it wasn’t his fault
A DAD has been hounded by a parking firm for £170 after challenging a parking fine incurred by his son.
Kieran Ramsey, 29 was fined for parking in a car park during a visit to Fantasy Island in Skegness.
Ramsey paid £6 for the day ticket but was hit with a £30 fine because he didn’t tap in the registration number correctly, which he says is due to his dyslexia.
His father, Colin Marshall, 62, from Lincolnshire, claimed that he has appealed the fine four times in seven months.

After not getting an answer, Marshall spent £21 on a special delivery service to send pieces of evidence showing that the ticket was paid.
“My son has got a young child and had a day out, paid the ticket and put it on the windshield.
“Thank God we kept the ticket or I’d have been screwed, they are still denying that we paid, it’s just horrendous,” he added.
Mr. Marshall claims he has explained to the company that his son has dyslexia and believes that the parking company is penalising people with learning difficulties.
“You’re hitting your head against a brick wall because they aren’t listening to what you’re saying when you’re supplying them with all the details,” said Marshall.
“The appeal has been rejected three times and the fourth letter said it doesn’t accept letters I’ve sent.
“They’ve sent another letter demanding £170,” he added.
Mr. Marshall tried to speak with someone from the company online, but said they were “arrogant” and “pig-headed”, with an “unprofessional” approach.
He described the situation as a ‘nightmare’ after the ticket’s reference number was rejected, and then the posted ticket was also rejected.
The company Smart Parking has been approached for comment.
