‘My neighbour’s kids keep chucking rubbish in my garden – I sent a warning’

A man has been left furious after a neighbour’s kid repeatedly threw a ball into his garden and causing damage to his property. Twitter user @javelinface expressed his anger after a neighbour’s child booted a ball into his garden, smashing one of his lights.

Uploading an image of the note, he said: “Neighbour’s kids keep throwing stuff over the fence.  Balls. Toy cars. Shoes. Bottles. Rubbish. Keys.”

He continued: “Today, they have thrown a ball over and smashed our side light. I was pretty darn close to sending the ball back over with a knife sticking in it. Instead, they get a note.”

The handwritten message read: “Hi, just letting you know that this ball has smashed our side alley light bulb. If you could please let the kids know that this will be the last time we will be returning the ball, that would be appreciated. Thanks, Peter (your neighbour).”

Peter was praised, with another Twitter user remarking he left a much “nicer note than I would have.” In an update, Peter said he had spoken with the parents, who explained the kid has recently been diagnosed with ADHD.

But that didn’t seem to help the situation, as he tweeted: “I’d like to empathise, but I was extremely ADHD as a child, and still knew boundaries. By being ADHD myself, I am empathising less.”

He continued: “Kids pretty much imitate whatever they see; for better or worse.

“There’s clearly a lack of a good role model in that household.”
