My neighbour bought a broken moped to hold street parking spaces while he’s away
A MOTORIST has taken to social media to show the unbelievable parking problem they’re having with a neighbour.
While putting out cones or bins to reserve street parking spots is fairly common, this method is taking things even further.
The Reddit post uploaded by user MihaiPirogov123 has the title: ‘My neighbour bought a broken moped to hold his parking spot when he’s not home.’
It was uploaded along with a picture of the moped left on the side of the street between two parked cars.

Given the amount of room between the moped and the others cars, it’s clear the moped is being used to block off a space.
People were only too happy to jump in with suggestions on what to do in the comments below.
One said: “Won’t it have to be taxed if it’s parked on the road? Or are mopeds low emission enough to be tax exempt?”
To which another replied: “Needs tax, mot AND insurance to be on a public highway I think, if it’s declared SORN it shouldn’t be on the road at all.”
But another person pointed out: “For a moped, tax will be about a tenner.
“Insurance will likely be less than a couple of hundred.
“If it was bought with an MOT it might still be cheaper than parking for a year in some places.”
Another commenter asked: “Why are folk not just parking about 4 inches away from the moped though? Like normal on-street parking.”
To which someone replied: “Good point. The original poster should buy two mopeds and park one in the gaps on each side of it…”
