My ex has been using my Sky account on the sly – check 2 settings to block them
SHARING is caring, but there’s some things you’ll want to reclaim post-break up.
Well that’s the case of one Sky customer whose ex-boyfriend is still watching telly on his phone via her account.
“My ex had the app on his phone but he is still able to access it,” she writes in a Sky help forum.
“I’ve changed the password and I keep removing his device but it seems he can still go on.
“I even have six devices and he can still seem to override. Help!!!!!”
The wrestle over an account that’s yours is certainly frustrating.
But thankfully, there’s an easy fix that an ex won’t be able to break through.
First things first, change your password.
Sky makes this process as easy as possible. All you need is access to the email address the account was set up with.
If your ex has access to that email, however, it’s best to change the password for that account too.
Next, you’ll need to sign into your Sky ID.
Inside your Sky ID, you’ll see a Sky Apps tick box.
If you tick Sky Apps and then the remove button, then anyone using apps such as SkyGo or SkyNews or SkySports with your credentials will have the previous authorisation token removed.
This means they’ll be booted out and forced to sign back in again.
But of course, they will have to use the new password that only you know.
