Mumbai: Tech firm CEO dies after being hit by car while jogging at Worli sea face

A tragic incident occurred at Worli Sea Face early on Sunday morning, where a speeding car hit a 42-year-old woman while she was jogging, resulting in her death at the spot. The accident happened near Worli Milk Dairy at around 6.30 am, and the victim was identified as Rajalaxmi Ram Krishnan, a resident of Dadar Matunga area, and a CEO of a technology company.

Witnesses told the media that the impact of the accident was severe enough to throw the woman several feet up in the air, leading to her death due to serious head injuries, media reports stated.

Rajalaxmi was known to be a fitness enthusiast and a regular jogger, often jogging with a group from Shivaji Park on Sundays.

As per reports in the media, upon receiving a call from the police and his wife’s colleague that his wife had met with an accident, Rajalaxmi’s husband rushed to Worli from Shivaji Park, where he had been jogging. Unfortunately, she was declared dead at nearby Podar Hospital.

Preeti Sompura, a journalist who witnessed the incident, said that local residents caught the driver, Sumer Merchant (23), and handed him over to the Worli police. Sumer and his friend were driving an electric Tata Nexon car towards Shivaji Park to drop off their female friend when the accident occurred.
