Mum searching for ‘hero’ who helped schoolgirls ‘sexually assaulted’ in Romford
Two schoolgirls were shoved, spat on, and sexually assaulted while walking through a park in East London last Friday (May 20), claims the mother of one of the victims. She said the two girls – aged 13 – were walking through Cottons Park in Romford when two older men started “grabbing and pushing our two girls, spitting on them, pulling their hair and at one point grabbing their chests and leg areas”.
Now the mother of one of the victims wants to thank a man who saved them. She said: “The park was pretty empty but a male did intervene, no questions asked, my girl said he hit one of the men and pushed the other away and then created a barrier between the girls and the men before telling them to go away and following the men out and away from the park and away from the girls. He told the girls to go the opposite direction and call somebody. The men backed down immediately and listened.”
According to the young girls the hero was a tall man dressed in black, with black hair, a black beard, a card around his neck, and a bandage or cast on one hand. She added: “The girls were scared, they did as he told and left the area. We don’t know what happened to this man or these men but the girls themselves didn’t hang around to find out.”

Addressing the man, she said: “God knows what would’ve happened if you didn’t intervene or if you weren’t even in the area at the time. The police said at some point they will be looking for the man in question also but I don’t want anything else except to thank you for what you’ve done. So truly, whoever you are, on behalf of two families and two very grateful young girls, thank you.”
The Metropolitan Police were approached for more information but could not provide any at this time.
