A 61-year-old businesswoman has opened a sex shop specifically for people aged 50 and up.

Suzanne Noble set up online store ‘Sunset Satisfaction’ to cater for older people who find standard stock ‘too powerful’ and struggle with their sex lives as time goes on.

The mum-of-two, who lives in Kilburn, London, also has a sex podcast with her partner Peter Marriott, 62, and runs a TikTok channel with nearly 50,000 followers.

She said: ‘It all sprung out of a podcast and a TikTok channel I run with my partner called Sex Advice for Seniors, which has blown up.

‘As a result of that, we knew there were a lot of people in their 50s and 60s really struggling with their sex life, and with experiencing pleasure, because they were leaving lots of comments.

‘So we decided we would do something about that and open a shop for older people.’

The American-British, who previously worked in PR, said she aims to keep stock ‘simple’ so her customers don’t get overloaded.

She explained: ‘We’re trying to keep it quite simple and not overwhelm people with lots and lots of products. A lot of sex shops have so much stuff people don’t really know where to start.

‘I know that was my own experience when I first started to get into sex toys. I was just overwhelmed by all the stuff that was out there, some of which were really too powerful.

‘We’ve got lots of books as well – a lot of books that I’ve read and would recommend because they’re really helpful when you’re trying to understand how to experience pleasure later in life.

‘We’ve got books about understanding your sex life and about your sex life after grieving.’

Even though Sunset Satisfaction just launched three weeks ago, Suzanna says business is off to a great start.

‘It seems to be going well,’ she said. ‘We’ve got lots of positive feedback and orders, so that’s good.

‘We’re hoping for more. We have nearly 50,000 followers on TikTok and millions of views, so we’re hoping some of those people will come over and have a look.

‘I’ve had a lot of really reassuring comments, from women especially, who have said thank you for being bold enough to talk about these topics and be honest about this.

‘But I’ve also had quite a few derogatory comments, mainly from men just being generally horrible. I’ve had some supportive comments from men too, though.’

Suzanna adds that she’s received feedback from people saying there’s not enough information out there for older individuals – and that she’s first woman they’ve seen actually having honest conversations on the topic.

She added: ‘There is a lot of stigma, but also there are a lot of significant issues that do arise, especially for women, as you get older, and you don’t know where to go and talk about it.

‘I have been really surprised about how quickly it’s all gone crazy. It’s insane.

‘It seems to have struck a chord with people. There’s just not enough people talking about these issues and sex at older ages.’
