Motsi Mabuse wishes sister Oti good luck ahead of Dancing On Ice debut
Strictly Come Dancing’s Motsi Mabuse has wished her sister Oti Mabuse good luck ahead of her debut on Dancing On Ice tonight.
Oti is set to make her first appearance on the ITV competition’s judging panel as the 2022 series launches this evening. She joins the likes of Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill, and Christopher Dean as she replaces John Barrowman.
Taking to Twitter, Motsi penned: ‘Good luck to my fabulous sister @OtiMabuse tonight on @dancingonice!!!! I know you have got this ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!’
She added: ‘I wish I could watch …. Need to seriously find a way to watch from Germany ❤️❤️any ideas???’
Motsi has already given her sister one crucial piece of advice ahead of the first episode.
‘She has said to be myself,’ Oti shared. ‘Say what I see and what I feel and what I would love to feel between two people dancing and verbalise that as best as I can.
‘You want them to get better. I know when I was on the other side of the table what I was hoping to get was “your arm wasn’t right” so that I have something to work on.
‘Everybody wants to get better, everybody wants to go through that ride up until the end and I am hoping that I can help and give my little tips.’
Six of the competition’s 12 couples will perform in week one, including Happy Mondays dancer Bez, who is partnered with reigning skating champion Angela Egan, and Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor who is partnered with Matt Evers.
Also performing live will be Strictly’s Brendan Cole and Vanessa Bauer, Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt and professional Mark Hanretty, Olympian Kye Whyte with new professional Tippy Packard, and TV presenter Ria Hebden with skater Lukasz Rozycki.
Dancing On Ice newcomer Oti is ‘excited’ to watch Brendan take to the rink with his skating partner Vanessa because he is a ‘risk-taker’.
‘I think he will be different because on Strictly he was very verbal because he was defending his celeb, if he really felt passionate about his celeb he was really defending her,’ she enthused.
‘This time it’s him, we are judging him. He has grown a little bit and I am hoping that he is going to take it in and take it as an opportunity to really show a different side of him, where Vanessa is taking care of him not him being the caretaker.’
She continued: ‘I have worked with Brendan and I know that he is a risk-taker and I think that is really quite exciting especially to have on Dancing On Ice, I can’t wait to see what he’s going to bring.
‘Brendan was always the one who would get on skates, always the one who would jump over a car or jump off a table, so this is up his street and I think he will take it as an exciting challenge.
‘He was always falling on Strictly and that wasn’t even on ice.’
Dancing On Ice airs tonight at 6.30pm on ITV.
