Most underrated UK destination for 2023 is ‘fabulous’ with ‘tranquil beach’

Recent research by Victory Leisure Homes revealed the best “secret staycation destinations” in the UK.

They analysed social media data to find the least “Instagrammed” locations in the country for those who want to enjoy a summer holiday in peace.

Caerwys

The small town of Caerwys, home to the picturesque holiday parks of Plas Isaf Lodge Park and Herons Lake Retreat Lodges, “is the perfect staycation spot,” the experts revealed.

Located in North Wales, the charming town has easy access to the motorway and “truly breathtaking scenery”.

In Caerwys, holidaymakers can visit Ewloe Castle, the National Trust Bodnant Garden and St James the Apostles Church.

The best places to eat and drink, according to Tripadvisor, are The Royal Oak, Cherry Pie and Dinorben Arms, and the nearest beaches are Talacre Beach and Kinmel Bay Beach.

Wolsingham

Less than a half hour’s drive away from the city of Durham, holidaymakers will find the “secret spot” of Wolsingham, with lots of activities to do and sights to see.

The experts suggested: “Close to the stunning North Pennines, venture out to Hadrian’s Wall for the day. Or stay local and take a bike ride around the local quaint towns of Wolsingham and Tow Law.”

When holidaying in Wolsingham, Britons can visit the Tunstall Reservoir, a “beautiful natural-looking reservoir”.

Tripadvisor users recommended the spot for a “fabulous walk” and described the place as “beautiful and very scenic”.

Berrow

Home to a six-mile stretch of sand, visitors to Berrow “can see the remains of a shipwreck at low tide”.

With panoramic views of the coast and rustic countryside, the seaside town of Berrow, in Somerset, is the perfect option for those looking for some peace and quiet.

“After a hike to the ancient woodlands, stroll out on the golden beaches to watch the sunset from the view point,” the experts recommended.

Berrow Beach is an “excellent beach,” according to Tripadvisor users, and “if you want a quiet tranquil beach setting then this is it,” one traveller said.

A visitor from Manchester commented: “Marvellous stretch of wide sandy beach stretching as far as the eye can see.”

Woodhall

Located in the heart of Lincolnshire, Woodhall is one of the least “Instagrammed” locations making it a perfect spot for a relaxing staycation.

“There is an array of activities to keep you busy – fish on one of the three lakes, cycle on the Spa Trail, or take a drive out to nearby market town Horncastle,” the experts suggested.
