Of students writing exams, 4,41,164 (51.8%) are girls while 4,10,138 (48.2%) are boys and one person is transgender. The directorate of government examinations has set up 3,225 exam centres for Class XII exams. In Chennai, 45,982 students will appear for exams from 180 exam centres.
The directorate has set up exam centres inside the central prisons for 90 prisoners who will appear for the exam. Exam centres will have drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, ventilation and toilet facilities.
The school education department has formed district level exam committees headed by collectors and formed flying squads to prevent exam malpractices. Mobile phones are banned inside the exam halls.
Chief minister M K Stalin and other leaders wished for students to appear for the board exams. “Students should approach these board exams like just any other exam. No need for fear or worry. All you need is self-confidence and determination. Read well, answer with clarity and in full and you will succeed,’ Stalin said in his message.
‘Like your parents, teachers I am also waiting for your success, not as a chief minister, but as one of your family members. All the best,” he further said.
BJP state president K Annamalai, in Twitter, while wishing for students, said that a bright future is waiting for them. “Wishes for students who are going to appear for plus two exams starting tomorrow. At a time when new fields and technologies emerge a bright future is waiting for them. I wish students to face the exam confidently and to succeed,” said Annamalai.
PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss asked the students not to panic and advised the parents not to pressurise their children.
MDMK headquarters secretary Durai Vaiko, in a statement, said that exams are not the only way to measure the intelligence of students. “Parents should not force any measure related to exams on students as it will have only negative effects,” he said.
