Monster Hunter: Rise Sunbreak Release Date For PlayStation And Xbox Confirmed For April
Only moments before the start of March 9’s Capcom Showcase, the Xbox and PlayStation release date for Monster Hunter: Rise’s latest expansion was revealed thanks to a listing update on PlayStation’s digital storefront. According to the listing, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will officially be released on Xbox and PlayStation consoles on April 28, 2023.
The publisher confirmed this release date in its Capcom Showcase before announcing an additional digital event focusing on even more post-launch content is scheduled for late-April.
The Sunbreak expansion first launched for PC and Nintendo Switch in June 2022, and added a brand-new story that picks up shortly after the events of the main game. It also features three new, powerful creatures known as the Three Lords: Garangolm, the Fanged Wyvern Lunagaron, and the Elder Dragon Malzeno–each of which the player will take on. Sunbreak has already sold more than 2 million copies across Switch and PC.
“Sunbreak might not be as substantial as some of the franchise’s previous expansions, like Iceborne was for Monster Hunter World, but it improves upon Rise’s foundations with another thrilling selection of hunts. It’s just a shame most of them are overly familiar,” reviewer Richard Wakeling said.
