Moment desperate sunbed hoggers burst through gated ‘pen’ before sprinting to pool

THIS is the hilarious moment revved up holidaymakers break out of their gated pen and race to bag the best sun lounger spot.

The footage was filmed by other hotel guests from the safety of their rooms as they gawked at the “unbelievable” sunbed wars raging beneath them in Ayia Napa.

Every year, the summer months bring scenes of chaos at large hotel pools as guests fight it out to get the best sun loungers.

And this year, the dash for sunbeds seems to have taken on a more furious and calculated turn.

Filmed at Tofinis Hotel in the Cyprus resort town, guests are seen impatiently waiting in a kind of barred cage until a hotel staff member opens the gate.

The video, posted by @leahsalaman on TikTok, shows hotel guests jumping up and down in frustration and and pointing at other pool-goers let out first who are nicking the best loungers.

Unwilling to wait a second later, one man grabs his things and launches himself over the railings.

A second later, the gate is opened and dozens of competitive sunbed-seeking people are unleashed into the pool area and rush to secure the nearest spot.

“Run, run my children, run,” the laughing cameraman shouts from his high-up balcony in the 244-room hotel.

Amazed at what he is seeing, he shouts: “Look everyone will get a bad, don’t break your neck.”

“I cannot believe he jumped over the gate.,” a female voice adds.

“Unbelievable,” he answers.

TikTokers rushed to share their thoughts on the video, which was posted last year but has resurfaced as the sunbed wars drag on across Europe.

One wrote: “I’m dreading this. We go next year. Last year in Tenerife we couldn’t get a sun lounger.”

“Worst holiday other,” another said.

“This is so sad to watch. Why just why lol,” a third replied.

It comes as another holidaymaker filmed the brilliant moment fed-up hotel staff removed towels plonked on empty sunbeds at a resort in Lanzarote.

Meanwhile, a British tourist and self-proclaimed “king of the sunbed hoggers” has revealed how he always hogs the best loungers abroad and tells others: “If you snooze you lose”.

Johnny Seifert has honed his skills over 15 years of visiting the same hotel in Gran Canaria.

And another proud hotel sunbed stealer revealed her clever tricks to nab all the best lounging spots – but some people call her selfish.

On the other side of the debate, a woman sick of sunbed hoggers has told of how she got the last laugh as she called out “selfish” hotel guests.
