Moment convoy of Britain’s nukes roars down motorway amid Putin tensions

A CONVOY of nuclear warheads was filmed roaring down the motorway today, leaving drivers stunned.

It comes amid heightened tensions with Russia reach fever pitch over despot Vladimir Putin’s nuclear threats towards Ukraine.

Insiders claimed the mad tyrant has already tried to detonate nuclear weapons but may have been sabotaged by his own top brass.

Motorist Ian Laurie, 48, said it was “spooky” and “weird” to see the military vehicles on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

The cameraman, from Kingston, South West London, was driving down the M40 near Bicester, Oxfordshire, when he saw the traffic on the other side was halted.

He then saw the first police van before being faced with the entire convoy, which was thought to be containing nukes.

There is a large military storage and distribution centre for the Ministry of Defence nearby.

Ian, who was driving to Wales for work, said: “I was shocked to see that. It was the amount that they were stopping the traffic for and the amount of delay. It was all really big.

“It felt like they are going through the motions for war. I didn’t know what it was but I assume it was warheads. I can’t see it being anything else with that level of protection.

“I guess they have to transport it all by road but it was weird to see it on a Sunday afternoon. I thought they’d do it at night.

“With all this stuff with Russia going on it was a bit spooky.

“We get relaxed about nuclear weapons because they’re meant to be a deterrent.

“I don’t think Putin’s going to press the button but it’s a weird feeling mentally seeing that. I’m not scared about it but it’s weird.”

The huge green trucks are known for carrying nuclear warheads. They generally travel in convoys at up to 55mph.

The warhead carriers are 44 tons, seven axle, articulated dark green trucks made by Mercedes-Benz.

They are military green with the rear trailer covered by a fitted canvas.

The Ministry of Defence was approached for comment.
