‘Mole’ in camp ahead of star’s boxing disaster
Ryan Garcia claims that there was a mole in his training camp that fed information to Gervonta Davis ahead of the seventh round KO loss
Davis landed a left uppercut to the body that left Garcia unable to continue with the bout ending at 1:44 in round seven.
Davis improved to 29-0, with all but two of his victories by knockout. It was the first defeat for Garcia, who won 19 of his first 23 fights by KO.

While the two were cordial after the fight, with Davis forgoing a bet in the lead up which put the entire purse on the line, Garcia took to social media days after the defeat to suggest there was shifty business taking place in his camp.
“Actually sad I had a mole in my camp. Like wtf that’s crazy but thank God it’s brought to light now,” Garcia wrote on social media.
“Also, didn’t mean for that to come off as an excuse or anything,” he added. “I lost, period. I’ll come back but I’m just shocked that part of my team crossed me, someone close to me. Unbelievable. But it’s a testimony that you must be aware of everyone.”
Some reports previously mentioned training partner Erdenebat Tsendbaatar as the potential “mole”.
The Mongolian fighter confirmed on social media that he seemingly hurt Garcia in sparring with a shot to the body, similar to the one Davis hit.
“King Ryan, in sparring I injured you with a body shot. Now you lost to ‘Tank.’ I am sorry. Are you OK?”
Tsendbaatar posted a follow up to the initial response:
“Hey King Ryan, my bro,” Tsendbaatar wrote. “My last post I used Google translate. The translation was incorrect and confusing. My apologies. Who is mole? What are you talking about? I am not mole. I don’t even speak English. I don’t even like Tank. I will fight him and KO him in the future. During our sparring, I tried to help you and sparred Tank-style boxing.
“I was cheering for you to win against Tank. You are great boxer. But next time try to learn from sparring and hopefully you will not get hit by the same punch during the fight. Good luck to you and God bless.”
With the knockout loss, Garcia suffered the first setback of his pro career, falling to 23-1.
As for their bet in the lead up to the fight, Garcia did not mention how he would move forward with their initial agreement.
“Nah, he can keep the money. He can take the money; he can take it,” said Davis about the purse bet.
Davis’ victory could set up a showdown with undefeated Devin Haney, who owns all four major championship belts in the lightweight division. Haney faces former champ Vasiliy Lomachenko in May, also in Las Vegas.
