A video is viral on social media with the claim that the police in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra caught robbers in Indian Overseas Bank, Shendi branch. The bank was closed but the police caught the robbers red-handed after they heard noises coming from inside, the claim furthers.

Mock drill

After searching for the video using keywords, we found that it is a mock drill video. The complete video was uploaded by ‘Mumbai Tak’ on September 2. The video was indeed shot in Shendi, Ahmednagar. The viral portion starts after 2:16 minutes in the broadcast.

The mock drill was also reported by Maharashtra Times and Saamana on 1 September. According to these reports, the mock drill was conducted as a part of the Ahmednagar Village Security Team exercise. This was a practice session to provide immediate assistance in case of an emergency.
