Hayley Atwell has spoken out about all those Tom Cruise romance rumours.
The actress, 41, stars in the action franchise alongside the leading man, 60, with their latest appearance being the seventh installment, Dead Reckoning Part One.
It’s long been speculated that Hayley and Tom were more than just friends, with reports surfacing last June that they had parted ways for good, a few months after rekindling their romance.
And now, the star – who got engaged to her actor boyfriend Ned Wolfgang Kelly in April – has firmly shut down the ‘weird’ whispers.
In fact, she saw Tom as more of an uncle figure than boyfriend material while filming.
‘I would be like, “Ooh, there’s some weird rumours, and it feels base, it feels a little dirty, it feels grubby, it’s not what I’m about”,’ she told The Independent.
‘Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss?
‘It’s upsetting.’
Hayley continued to share her co-star’s motivational reminders after she brought the reports up to him.
‘When I’ve talked to him about it, he’d be like, “You know exactly who you are. You know what you’re about. And that is the only thing that matters. It doesn’t matter what people think of you, if you are in integrity with yourself, if you know what your value system is.’
Announcing their engagement a few weeks back, Hayley’s husband-to-be shared the sweetest post.
Songwriter and composer Ned revealed on Instagram that he had popped the question during a romantic vacation to Venice.
‘Lucky me. Arrived in Venice at 10am, around midday the love of my life and I got engaged in the kitchen of this strange apartment surrounded by ducks, with a bloke outside the window murdering “My Way” on the accordion,’ he penned.
‘A perfect start to the rest of our lives together. I’d never had any interest in getting married… until I met this extraordinary woman. Happy as a clam.’
Hayley and Ned have kept their relationship mostly out of the public eye and have rarely been photographed together, which seems to be working perfectly well for them.
However, she has been proudly showcasing her sparkling engagement ring, having worn the dazzler on her finger to the Mission: Impossible premiere this month.
Although, her outfit wasn’t for everyone, as the star was subject to very rude trolling due to her dress.
Yep, in true internet style, everyone had an opinion – but Hayley wasn’t taking any prisoners.
One Instagram user commented on her gorgeous black gown: ‘Girl ily [I love you] but that dress and hair was not it.’
Writing back with a witty retort, Hayley said: ‘It certainly was “it” for me. I have great news for you – no one is asking you to wear this dress,’ alongside a smiley face.
