Bukidnon saw a spectacle of beauty and pageantry for two nights in a row with the special presentation of the 2023 Miss Philippines Earth pageant held in two different locations in the province recently, with all 29 of the delegates participating.

Yllana Marie Aduana from Siniloan, Laguna, continued her upward trajectory in the competition with three major citations from the two events. She took the gold medal in the swimsuit competition held at the Municipal Plaza of Talakag on April 19, and was also proclaimed Miss Philippines Earth-Talakag on the same evening.

She also topped the “Creative Wings” competition during the Banog-Banog Festival held at the Manolo Fortitch Gymnasium on April 18, where the candidates showcased costume wings made by each barangay from the Municipality of Manolo Fortitch, the first town to be certified as a Philippine Eagle sanctuary. Mythosela Villanueva from Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental, finished third in the competition, where local beauty queens from the province also participated in.

For the swimsuit competition on the second night of the pageant’s visit to the province, Sha’uri Livori from the Filipino community of Melbourne, Australia, captured the silver medal, while Kerri Reilly from Mangatarem, Pangasinan, received the bronze medal.

Aside from Aduana’s special title as Miss Philippines Earth-Talakag, five other titles representing the five other towns from the province’s first congressional district were also bestowed during the staging of the swimsuit competition on April 19.

Livori was proclaimed Miss Philippines Earth-Manolo Fortitch, while Reilly was Miss Philippines Earth-Malitbog. Cristina Tallador from Iloilo City was Miss Philippines Earth-Libona, Naoimi Henave from Dasmariñas City was Miss Philippines Earth-Baungon, and Queenzel Alacio from Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay, was Miss Philippines Earth-Sumilao.

The ladies also paid a visit at Golda’s Place, an ecotourism destination in the town of Malitbog, where they communed with nature and expressed their love for the environment through paintings. The candidates also went to the town of Sumilao, and the Dahilayan Adventure Park and other places in the town of Manolo Fortich.

Now on its 23rd year, the Miss Philippines Earth pageant promotes environmental awareness, with the winners expected to work on projects that help save the planet from further degradation. It is organized by Carousel Productions that also mounts the annual Miss Earth pageant where the national winner competes in.

Reigning queen Jenny Ramp, who finished in the Top 20 of the 2022 Miss Earth pageant, will relinquish her title as Miss Philippines Earth to her successor who will be proclaimed at the coronation program in Toledo, Cebu, on April 29. The new queen will represent the country in the 2023 Miss Earth pageant in Vietnam later this year. EDV
