Miss FIT PH Yllana Aduana meets 28 aspirants for her crown
MANILA, Philippines—It has been more than a year since Yllana Aduana captured the Miss FIT (Face, Intelligence, Tone) Philippines title, and the women vying to become her successor have already been selected.
The reigning queen met the 28 official candidates to the 2022 Miss FIT Philippines pageant at the press presentation held at Palazzo Verde in Las Piñas City on Jan. 26, where the aspirants introduced themselves individually and paraded in athleisure wear and two-piece swimsuits.
Organizer ProMedia originally scheduled the competition in the last quarter of 2022, but decided to move the contest to January. Another edition for 2023 is slated later this year.
The ongoing competition is the third edition of the contest, which promotes wholistic fitness among young women. It was born at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and was initially staged virtually in 2020. Pageant veteran Malka Shaver took home the crown that year.
Its first physical staging was conducted in 2021, where Aduana captured the crown, fresh from her participation in the Miss Philippines Earth pageant where she finished as a runner-up.
From there, she ventured into the Binibining Pilipinas pageant, with the support of ProMedia. She finished in the Top 12, and was also proclaimed the “Face of Binibini” (Miss Photogenic).
ProMedia CEO Paul Izon Reyes said at the press presentation, “We hone you to become fit to be a queen,” acknowledging the importance of maintaining a fit body, along with a fit mind, while working on “pageant fitness,” or being fit for the important aspects of pageantry such as “pasarela” (pageant walk) and the question-and-answer round.
Members of pageant media at the press presentation voted for their favorites among this year’s batch of aspirants. Aliya Rohilia from Albay topped the poll as “Press Favorite,” with Jackelaine Fleming from Calbayog City securing the second-highest number of votes. MJ Oblea from San Pablo City rounded up the Top 3 vote-getters.
The 2022 Miss FIT Philippines pageant will stage its coronation show at Palazzo Verde on Jan. 31. The winner will not be sent to any international competition, but ProMedia has always been supportive of their titleholders’ quest for national crowns.
Aside from Aduana, ProMedia’s “beauty athletes” also include reigning Bb. Pilipinas Globe Chelsea Fernandez, Mutya ng Pilipinas Iona Gibbs and Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol. /ra
