Minecraft introduces Sniffers – a new type of creature

MINECRAFT has announced the new 1.20 update, which will add a number of new creatures, including Sniffers.

Sniffers are a new creature that is a hybrid between a tortoise and a bird, and are extinct.

The Sniffer comes alongside the new archaeology system, which can be used to find hidden bones and eggs.

Here’s everything we know about Sniffers coming to Minecraft.

Minecraft: What is a Sniffer?

In 2022, Minecraft held a Live Mob Vote, to decide which creature would be introduced into the game.

Sniffers beat out Rascals and Tough Golems, to come to the game in the 1.20 update.

They hatch from eggs in their baby form called a Snifflet, and can then grow into an adult Sniffler.

You’ll want to hatch some as they can sniff out ancient seeds that can create unique plants to customise your base.

Minecraft: How to get a Sniffer?

Sniffer eggs can be found using the archaeology system, which will be introduced in update 1.20.

However, you can get one before this by trying out the upcoming Minecraft Snapshot.

You can do this by following these steps:

  1. Start the Minecraft launcher.
  2. Click “Installations”.
  3. For snapshots: click “Snapshots”.
  4. Start up Minecraft.

This will allow you to try out the new content as soon as the Snapshot launches on February 15, 2023.

The Snapshot allows the team to get feedback on new features, and fix bugs before they are fully introduced in the update.
