Miley Cyrus, Machine Gun Kelly hit out at Grammys 2022 nominations snub
The full list of Grammy nominations for 2022 has been revealed, and there are a few snubbed celebrities who are less than impressed.
The Grammy nominations for 2022 have been announced, and as usual there are some celebrities who are not happy they’ve been snubbed.
Australian act Rüfüs Du Sol has been nominated for Alive in the best dance/electronic recording, while Aussie rapper The Kid Laroi is nominated in the best new artist.
Miley Cyrus and Machine Gun Kelly have both reacted to not being recognised for the 64th annual awards next year, while Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo are among the artists to have scored nods.
Cyrus, who released her seventh studio album Plastic Hearts late last year, tweeted a story about the 30 artists who have never won a Grammy, writing: “In good company.” The list included the likes of ABBA, Diana Ross and Queen.
Rapper Kelly, whose fifth album Tickets To My Downfall debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart late last year, was a little more straightforward in his disapproval, tweeting: “WTF is wrong with the Grammys.”
It comes after The Weeknd announced plans to boycott the Grammys following his controversial snub from the Recording Academy last year, despite his After Hours album holding the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart for three weeks, with his smash hit record Blinding Lights also failing to be honoured.
The singer – who managed to score three nominations for 2022 thanks to his respective collaborations with Kanye West and Doja Cat – took to social media at the time declaring the ceremony was “corrupt”.
“The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency,” he tweeted in November last year.
US musician Jon Batiste is leading nominations with 11, while Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and H.E.R. trail behind with eight apiece. Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo both scored seven nods.
