Midsomer Murders star’s hugely famous actor parents in Corrie and EastEnders

Samuel West has built a hugely impressive career, starring in hit shows and films such as Suffragette, Mr Selfridge, and All Creatures Great and Small.

The actor, 55, followed in the footsteps of his successful parents, Timothy West and Prunella Scales, who also built careers in the film industry.

The Midsomer Murders star’s father Timothy, 87, has been in the business for many years, starring in hit shows such as Coronation Street and EastEnders.

Samuel’s mother Prunella also has some iconic credits to her name after featuring in the BBC comedy Fawlty Towers.

In 2014 Prunella and Timothy began starring together on the documentary series Great Canal Journeys, where they travelled the country on canal barges and narrowboats.

Their son Samuel has also starred alongside his parents on projects, such as when he featured alongside his mother in Howards End and Stiff Upper Lips, and his father in Iris and Over Here.

Samuel has spoken out about how his famous parents were often at work when he was younger, leaving him to be cared for by nannies.

According to the Express , the actor said: “I did sometimes feel the absence of my parents in my life.

“They were very busy, and I never blame them for that – they had to go where the work was.”

This left a lasting impact on Samuel’s life, with him believing this could be at the root of why he did not settle down.

He said: “I think that lack, that absence, is something I learned more about and had to find peace with before I was able to settle down.”
