Microsoft Xbox Console Players Can No Longer Share Clips to Twitter

Microsoft has disabled uploading screenshots and clips to Twitter via its consoles. Players can still upload their video clips and screenshots to Twitter via the Xbox app.

Microsoft announced its decision on Twitter after a user asked why they couldn’t share their Minecraft content directly from the Xbox.

The company replied, “We have had to disable the ability to share game uploads to Twitter directly from the console and Game Bar on Windows. You can still share your favorite moments to Twitter via the Xbox app for Android and iOS.”

Microsoft hasn’t officially stated a reason for this move. However, it is likely that this decision stems from the API changes made at Twitter following the recent update. Twitter’s recent update is designed to make large companies pay a good amount of money to access Twitter’s API, as highlighted by Wired.

According to their report, Twitter can charge companies as much as $42,000 per month to gain access to the new enterprise package on Twitter’s developer platform.

Xbox players are advised to use their Xbox mobile app to share screenshots and video clips until the issue is resolved. The Xbox mobile app is available on both Android (via Google Play Store) and for iOS (via the App Store).

How to share screenshots and clips to Twitter via Xbox app

1. Go to the Xbox app
2. Select My Library, then choose Captures
3. Select the screenshot/clip you want to share
4. Choose Share, and then Twitter
