Microsoft Edge users receive huge free upgrade that Google Chrome can’t beat

MICROSOFT Edge users are close to snagging a new, free upgrade as the browser takes on Google Chrome.

It’s Microsoft’s very own Virtually Private Network, commonly known as a VPN.

The free feature has been in development for nearly a year, and will soon be making its way to the Microsoft browser.

Microsoft has reportedly rolled out the feature to a handful of users in Edge stable – where features are trialled before being introduced to users worldwide.

Google Chrome doesn’t have its own built-in VPN network. So, this marks a significant step up for Edge.

Although, Chrome does support the use of other VPN’s on its browser.

Microsoft Edge’s built-in VPN feature is set to be called Edge Secure Network.

It encrypts your internet connection, via web infrastructure and security company Cloudflare.

This essentially means no one can track your web traffic.

Unlike traditional VPN extensions or tools, it also protects your data from hackers.

However, Edge’s Secure Network does not replace your all VPN needs.

For example, you won’t be able to change your location, according to Bleeping Computer, which tested the built-in VPN.

So, you couldn’t use it to access Netflix if a particular content is blocked because of your location.

However, the Edge Secure Network can be used to access Torrent sites, like illegal movie streaming sites, which are blocked by broadband providers.
