Mick Jagger pictured leaving Manchester hotel ahead of huge Liverpool show

Dressed smartly in pink, Mick Jagger smiles and waves to photographers as he steps out of his Manchester hotel – hours before his Rolling Stones’ gig in Liverpool. Like his bandmates, the 78-year-old rocker is staying in Manchester city centre as the UK leg of the Stones’ European tour ‘Sixty’ gets underway to celebrate 60 glorious years of performing.

After kicking off the tour in Madrid and Munich, Mick, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood flew into Manchester Airport on their own famously liveried jet to begin the UK leg of the tour. Mick has been snapped enjoying the sites of Liverpool but he and his bandmates have been staying in Manchester.

At about 3pm, smiling Mick emerged from Stock Exchange Hotel in Manchester city centre before taking the short journey down the East Lancs Road to Liverpool to prepare for the concert in front of 50,000 fans at Anfield stadium – the first Rolling Stones’ concert in Liverpool since 1971.

Mick looked cool, of course, in a pink jacket and pink baseball cap at he left the hotel, waving to fans and photographers as he left. It is understood Keith Richards is staying at the Lowry and Ronnie Wood at Dakota hotels, both Manchester city centre.

The trio of old rockers have been joined by drummer Steve Jordan following the death of Charlie Watts in August of 2021.

The Stones were formed in London back in 1962, and got their start playing covers before penning their own song. They became one of the best-selling bands of all time.

The tour started on June 1 in Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, followed by a concert in Munich at Olympic Stadium. They will also perform two nights at London’s Hyde Park. The tour takes in ten countries and winds down with a concert at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on July 31.

Earlier in the week, Jagger shared pictures of himself in Liverpool outside the Liver Building, with the Cilla Black statue on Mathew Street and outside the Empire Theatre next to Lime Street.

Alongside the pictures Mick said on Twitter: “So long since I’ve been in Liverpool – looking forward to Anfield tomorrow night.”
