Michael Jordan has finally addressed his son Marcus’ controversial romance with Larsa Pippen and it probably isn’t the response the couple were hoping for.
Marcus, 32, and Larsa, 48, were first rumoured to be dating in September 2022 after being spotted on a string of dinner dates before being pictured kissing publicly in January this year.
They went Instagram official shortly after and have been going strong ever since.
However, their relationship has fallen under scrutiny due to the 16-year age gap between the two, but also due to their mutual connections – Larsa was previously married to ex-NBA player Scottie Pippen, who is the former teammate of Marcus’ father Michael.
NBA legend Michael, 60, was finally pinned down and quizzed about his son’s new relationship and delivered a pretty brutally honest response.
TMZ caught up with the former basketball star and was asked if he approved of Marcus dating Larsa. At first, he laughed off the question before stating a firm ‘no’. He was pressed about it again but shook his head no, confirming his earlier response.
Of course, it’s possible Michael was simply joking around with the photographer.
It comes after Larsa claimed she had been welcomed by Marcus’ family, saying on the Tamron Hall Show recently: ‘I feel like, we’ve spent holidays together and it’s good. We’re in a great place.’
She added: ‘It’s not about my parents, his parents. They’re all happy. Our whole family’s fine.’
The Real Housewives of Miami star also addressed the criticism in December during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live.
Host Andy Cohen asked her outright: ‘What does Scottie think about your friendship?’
‘I don’t know,’ she replied.
Larsa revealed that Scottie’s never asked her about it and neither have their children – the former couple share four kids; Scotty Jr., 22, Preston, 21, Justin, 18, and Sophia, 14.
When asked if she understood why some might find her relationship with Marcus ‘wild’, Larsa admitted: ‘I mean, I guess, yeah. But I think a lot of people think that our families were really close and intertwined, and they really weren’t.
‘Like I never really knew Marcus’ mum or them; I just recently met them a couple of years ago.’
Larsa was married to former Chicago Bulls star Scottie for 24 years, but their marriage came to an end in 2021 when their divorce was finalised.
