MG Comet EV makes its India debut. Specs, price and other details

Chinese car maker, MG has launched its latest electric car – the Comet – in India. The car maker is likely to launch the car in the Indian market later this month when it will also announce its price.

It will be MG’s second electric vehicle in India after the ZS EV. The Comet is a rebranced version of Wuling Air EV. Wuling is MG’s sister brand.

The MG Coment EV is a compact car with a boxy design. The car has a two-door layout, with a seating capacity of up to 4 passengers. It is about 2974 mm in length, 1505 mm in width, 1640 mm in height and have a 2010 mm long wheelbase.

The Comet EV comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment system as well as the similarly-sized instrument cluster. The company has offered two-spoke steering wheel with controls mounted on either side. Besides, it offers LED headlights and tail lights, connected tech, ambient lighting and so on.

The MG Comet EV is expected to be offered with a 17.3 kWh battery pack, providing a range of 230 km on a single full charge. It is expected to be equipped with a single permanent magnet synchronous motor, putting out about 42 PS of max power and 110 Nm of peak torque.

MG has not yet announced its price but the Comet EV is expected to cost somewhere around the Rs 10 lakh mark, going up to Rs 15 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). At this price point, the MG Comet EV will face competition from the likes of Tata Tiago EV, Tigor EV as well as the Citroen eC3.It will come in five colours, including two dual tone models.
