Melania and Ivanka make no statements after Donald Trump’s trial

Melania Trump has not made a statement after her husband Donald Trump was found liable for sexual battery E. Jean Carroll in a civil trial, with one source saying the former first lady “will weather the storm.”

This week, a New York jury awarded advice columnist E. Jean Carroll $5 million in damages over the allegation that Mr Trump attacked her in a Manhattan department store in the 1990s.

Mr Trump has accused the civil trial’s presiding judge of bias and has denied the accusation against him, stating that his accuser was a “whack job” during a CNN town hall event.

He said: “I swear on my children, which I never do. I have no idea who this woman is. This is a fake story.”

The former president has now filed an appeal against the verdict, and sources say Melania is unhappy about the situation but will refrain from speaking out.

The source told People: “Melania knows who her husband is and will stay below the radar on this as she usually does,

“She openly speaks out on his scandals. She turns her head the other way and moves on with her life.”

According to People, the source has said Melania is discreet and that the verdict “shouldn’t be a huge surprise” for the former first lady.”

Before the verdict, Melania told Fox News that if she had “the privilege” to serve as America’s first lady again, she would spend her time focusing on helping the well-being of children.

She said: “My husband achieved tremendous success in his first administration, and he can lead us toward greatness and prosperity once again.”

Neither of Mr Trump’s daughters have made a statement following the civil trial, but Ivanka Trump was seen this week at the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Ivanka was spotted on Monday wearing a glamorous rainbow-hue dress as she mingled with the stars, as celebrities such as Hollywood actor Tom Cruise and billionaire Elon Musk were also seen at the four-day-long event.

Last month, the former political advisor spoke out about the indictment against Mr Trump, who has been accused of paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.

On Instagram, Ivanka wrote: “I love my father and I love my country. Today I am pained for both. I appreciate the voices across the political spectrum expressing support and concern.”

A source has told Page Six that both Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner have “stepped aside” from Mr Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, but Melana will be “stepping up” to support her husband.

They said: “Trump says Melania will be by his side during the campaign more than she was last time.”

The source also told People that like the Stormy Daniels case, the recent verdict has been “embarrassing for [Melania] and for her family.”

They said: [Melania] has a good life and doesn’t want to rock the boat…her whole family has had a better life thanks to her marriage to Donald

The source added that Melania “will weather the storm as she has done in the past. She has a son and his protection is her most important job.”
