Megyn Kelly blasts Chrissy Teigen for having ‘serfs’ hold her dress at WH Correspondents’ Dinner
Megyn Kelly hit out at supermodel Chrissy Teigen for having “three minions” follow her while holding her dress as she and her husband John Legend arrived for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC, on Saturday.
Kelly slammed Teigen for her “elitism” which was exhibited by “the serfs behind her” — adding that it appeared as if she was “literally going to [King Charles’] coronation.”
“She has, by my count, three minions following her — that’s minions in her view — following her, holding the dress or the train of her non-existent dress,” Kelly said during Monday’s episode of the SiriusXM podcast “The Megyn Kelly Show.”
Teigen wore a George Hobeika-designed lavender gown with sheer fabric that exposed way too much, in Kelly’s view.
“I can see underwear, okay? I can see London, I see France, I see Chrissy’s underpants, which nobody shows underpants at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner,” Kelly said.
Kelly said that Teigen’s display should serve as a cautionary tale for “those who are going to the Met Gala tonight.”
“You also look like an elitist snob when you show up there with the three people — the servants who are masked, and you’re not,” Kelly said.
Kelly was reacting to video that was posted online by independent journalist Brendan Gutenschwager on Saturday showing a tuxedo-clad Legend walk arm in arm with his wife, Teigen, to the Hilton Hotel, where the event was held.
As Kelly noted in her monologue, there are three women who are holding Teigen’s dress as the celebrity couple approaches the hotel.
Twitter users blasted Teigen, with one commenter writing: “Nothing says equity and equality like all that.”
“Privilege is having two people carrying the back of your gown,” another Twitter user wrote.
The Post has sought comment from Teigen’s representatives.
Several Twitter observers compared the spectacle to the controversy surrounding the Met Gala appearance by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in 2021.
Ocasio-Cortez wore a lavish dress which read “Tax the Rich.” In preparation for her appearance, several aides were seen helping her get ready for the event.
As the event took place during the pandemic, the aides all wore masks while the congresswoman and her boyfriend were not masked.
Glenn Greenwald, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, tweeted that the Teigen video “reminds me of that COVID-era video of a huge team of masked servants getting AOC ready for the Met Gala by working on her hair, nails, feet, and dress while she and her boyfriend lounged around unmasked.”
