Meghan and Harry may have to bring their own attire to Coronation

A royal expert claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have to bring their own attire to the Coronation as it is unlikely they will be provided with the type of outfits the rest of the Royal Family will wear. The couple could therefore be dressed differently to attend King Charles’s Coronation and this is to prevent them from “standing out,” according to the expert.

Royal author and historian Dr Tessa Dunlop opined that if Meghan and Harry attend the Coronation on May 6, they will be seen at Westminster Abbey “but minus a coronet and robe”.

It is believed King Charles wants his two sons by his side, but Harry and Meghan may be in a very different attire than Kate and William, the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The royal expert opined that “in contrast, history suggests working royals will stand out”, just like Princess Margaret did at Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation.

“In 1953 the Queen’s sister Princess Margaret had her own Coronation gown designed by Norman Hartnell, embroidered with roses and daisies and offset with a stunning Cartier tiara,” Tessa told the Mirror.

Princess Margaret arrived at Westminster Abbey with the Queen Mother and the pair sat in a box with Prince Charles, who was four years old.

Tessa opined that “a similar scenario” will take place at King Charles’s Coronation with the Princess of Wales and her three children.

“Like it or not this state occasion is all about royal hierarchy. Visual messaging through both costume and carriage will remind us who the future King and Queen are (whether the Sussexes like it or not!)” she claimed.

It is expected that the working royals will wear colourful and royal-appropriate outfits while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may opt for a more discreet look to blend in.

The expert predicted that Kate will likely opt for “her trusty fashion formula of an immaculately tailored skirt suit for the Coronation”.

This will be a lovely coat dress or an elegant skirt suit “in her signature fitted silhouette, complemented with nude heels”.

Miranda added that Kate may also don a hat and “symbolic pieces of jewellery,” perhaps to honour the late Queen Elizabeth.

The fashion expert added: “I’m sure Kate’s fashion-loving fans would love to see a new twist on the traditional, but this occasion is all about our new King, and it would be unseemly for the women to pull focus from the monarch with their wardrobe choices.

“Additionally, the Firm prefers to dress as classically and timelessly as possible,” she opined.

In terms of protocols, “with the exception of Prince William, at this Coronation peers of the realm will not be paying homage to the new King so it is unlikely that Harry will have to go down on bended knee,” royal expert Tessa opined.

“Likewise if Meghan attends, any Coronation finery will be entirely her own. Expect very few to stand on ceremony for the Duchess of Sussex,” she claimed.

It is believed that Prince William, as the future King, will honour his father at the ceremony by kneeling and touching the crown and perhaps kissing King Charles on the right cheek.
