Meet Hirsh Vardhan Singh, 3rd Indian-American To Join US Prez Race

Yet another Indian-American engineer has joined the 2024 US Presidential race after Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy.

Hirsh Vardhan Singh, an Indian-American engineer, has announced his bid for the White House. In a video message posted on Twitter, the 38-year-old said that he is a “lifelong Republican” and “America First” conservative who worked to restore a conservative wing of the New Jersey Republican Party.

“We need strong leadership to reverse the changes that have occurred in the past few years and restore American values. That is why I have decided to seek the Republican Party’s nomination for the 2024 election for the office of president of the United States,” Singh said in a video.

He officially filed his candidacy with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday, reported The Hill newspaper on Friday.

Prior to Singh, former South Carolina Governor 51-year-old Haley, and 37-year-old millionaire entrepreneur Ramaswamy, announced their candidacy from the Republican Party for the top US post earlier this year. They will contest against former US president Donald Trump, who is leading in the race for the Republican Party’s nomination for 2024 despite the legal challenges he is facing.

Who is Hirsh Vardhan Singh?

Hirsh Vardhan Singh was born in Atlantic City to Indian immigrants.

Upon completing his undergraduate degree in engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2009, he joined his family’s firm, which specializes in missile defense, satellite navigation, and aviation security. Hirsh actively assisted his father in managing the business.

Singh was an aeronautical engineer.

In 2003, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics honoured him with the Aviation Ambassador award.

In 2017, Singh forayed into New Jersey politics by running as a candidate for governor. His campaign received a substantial $1 million donation from his father. He had secured only 9.9 per cent of the vote, landing him in third place in the election, according to The Hill.

In 2018, he ran for both the US Senate and Congress without success.

In 2020, he made another attempt at the US Senate seat, but it proved unsuccessful as well. Lastly, in 2021, he ran for governor once more, but luck was not on his side.

According to his website, Singh stands for low taxes, minimal regulations, and a free-market economy that puts America first.

He wants to stop illegal immigration. He is committed to controlling the border and removing those that have come here illegally. Need path to citizenship for those that want to be in America and follow American Laws.
