McMahon: Dagenham & Redbridge will be massive underdogs at Notts County
Daggers travel to face the National League leaders at Meadow Lane, on the back of a midweek win over Aldershot.
Goals from Angelo Balanta and Junior Morias sealed the 2-1 success at Victoria Road, as McMahon’s men moved up to 10th in the table.
The Magpies, meanwhile, top the pile by five points from Wrexham, after extending their unbeaten run to 25 matches with a 4-0 win over Southend United.
Macauley Langstaff scored twice to take his tally for the season to 32 and McMahon knows a win for his side would be a shock.
“We’re playing against the best team in the league. They’re top of the table, they play unbelievable football, their squad is ridiculous,” he told the club website.
“I’ve just had a quick look and the players they’ve got in their group – Jodi Jones, John Bostock, Championship and Premier League quality players in their group.
“We know it’s going to be difficult, we’ll be massive underdogs. The pressure is on Notts County to get a result so we’ll go there and try to upset.”
Tuesday night’s win was only a second in 11 matches for Daggers, who had lost six of their previous eight matches in all competitions since a 2-0 victory at Aldershot on January 10.
They had slumped to a 3-2 defeat at lowly Scunthorpe on Saturday, but are just five points off the play-off places, and McMahon added: “There’s a long way to go and you have ups and downs and difficult times.
“I know we said this Saturday, we’ve lost a lot of good players in a few weeks and we’re getting some back.
“Hopefully we’ll have Mauro [Vilhete] back this week as well which will be massive for us, we’ll have Inih [Effiong] back in the group at the weekend, they’re two massive positives.
“Hopefully ‘Rancey’ [Dean Rance] will be ok after his injury tonight and we move forward.”
Saturday’s game kicks off at 5.20pm and will be broadcast live on BT Sport.
