McGowan’s hilarious Bunnings vax call: TikTok

Mark McGowan has taken a unique approach to encourage WA residents to get vaccinated.

Western Australian premier Mark McGowan has created his own Bunnings Warehouse commercial in a move to urge locals to get vaccinated.

The video by the state‘s leader went live on his TikTok on Thursday with a caption that read: “Been putting off that important job?”

Speaking to the tune of the Bunnings advertisement jingle, Mr McGowan used the social media platform to encourage residents to get a Covid-19 jab while getting some of “those little jobs” accomplished.

A filter that looked like an aisle of the store was also used in the background, making the fake ad more believable.

“The sun’s out and Christmas is just around the corner,” he began.

“So now is the time to get to all those little jobs you’ve been putting off; like getting on top of the garden, giving the fence a fresh coat of paint or getting vaccinated. You can do it all this weekend at Bunnings.”

In the hilarious pretend ad, Mr McGowan said the vaccinations would be administered at eight Bunnings Warehouse stores across the state, being in Busselton, Geraldton, Rockingham, Harrisdale, Cannington, Balcatta, Ellenbrook and Mindarie.

The pop up clinics will be open between 9.30am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

“Get down to Bunnings this weekend to get a start on those DIY projects, get a snag and roll up for WA,” he said.

Currently, more than 63 per cent of Western Australians are fully vaccinated.

Authorities are calling for 90 per cent double dose rate before it will safely transition and ease its border restrictions.
