McDonald’s to create 20K new jobs in PH

MANILA  -The Philippine franchise of fast-food giant McDonald’s plans to expand its headcount by nearly a third or around 20,000 to support its growing business.

McDonald’s Philippines, which is under its master franchise holder George Yang, on Tuesday said it would bump up its close to 60,000 employees to date as it opens more stores.

It plans to hire more management trainees in Nueva Ecija, Isabela, Montalban, Dumaguete, Bacolod, Makati, Manila, Quezon City, Pampanga, Tagaytay, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal, Lucena and Pasig City.

Priority areas for crew hiring are Parañaque, Manila, Pasay, Pasig, Marikina, Taytay, Antipolo, Kidapawan and Davao City.

“With every new store that we open, we are able to provide employment opportunities in local communities where the store is located. We directly hire all our people and do not practice contractualization,” company president CEO Kenneth Yang said.

Yang said it has always been the company’s hiring policy since the older Yang, his father, opened the first Philippine branch in Morayta, Manila in 1981.

“We believe that if our people working in the restaurants have job security first, it will allow them to focus and do well in their job of serving our customers,” he said.

McDonald’s Philippines also takes pride in providing “world-class” training to its people as they learn global systems and processes in restaurant service.

In 2022, the local unit hired more than 17,000 new employees for its more than 700 stores nationwide.

McDonald’s Philippines was recognized as one of the country’s best employers in the inaugural list of “The Philippines’ Best Employers for 2023” by the Philippine Daily Inquirer and international market research firm Statista.
