If there’s one universal way to every person’s heart, it’s free food.

Well, McDonald’s is expanding its MyMcDonald’s Rewards scheme menu to include some customer favourites.

What tasty treats are new, you ask? The McMuffin, the McSpicy, the Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese and the McCrispy are now available for free when you’ve collected a certain amount of points.

To get your hands on these free tasty treats you need to have reached 5,500 Rewards points, which is a whole new points milestone for loyal Maccies customers.

What’s more, existing reward levels have had some additions from the menu too, with a regular cold soft drink, an Apple Pie or a Filet-O-Fish now available.

Now run, don’t walk, to McDonald’s, because these changes came into effect today, Monday July 10.

Customers who are opted in to MyMcDonald’s Rewards and order and pay through the McDonald’s App will automatically earn points on their order – this includes McDelivery when ordered via the app.

But how much do you have to spend to amass 5,500 points in order to cash in on your free McCrispy?

You earn one point for every penny you spend. This means you will have to spend £55 at McDonald’s to get your hands on a free McMuffin.

We don’t know about you, but all our cheeky McDonald’s orders, after nights of one too many cocktails, may easily get us to 5,500 points.

But it’s important you don’t sleep on your points as you only have a year to use them after acquiring them.

Instead of acquiring a delicious freebie, you could do your good deed for the day and donate your points to BBC Children in Need, FareShare or Ronald McDonald House Charities to help support youth work as well as reducing food poverty and waste.

What can you use your rewards points for:

1,500 points: You can get small fries, side salad, regular McCafé, mini McFlurry, a hash brown or donate £1.50 to one of a partner charity.

2,500 points: Pick between a Vegetable Deluxe, Bacon Mayo Chicken, Cheesy Bacon Flatbread, medium Fries, Double Cheeseburger or donate £2.50 to a partner charity.

4,000 points: You can get a Big Mac, Double Sausage & Egg McMuffin, Large Crispy Chicken Salad, 6 Chicken McNuggets, McChicken Sandwich, McPlant or donate £4.00 to a partner charity.

5,500 points: You can get a McMuffin, McSpicy, Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese and the McCrispy.
