From the Big Mac to the cheeseburger, some McDonald’s staples are about to get a makeover.

But don’t panic yet – the updated recipes are said to make the food even tastier.

On Monday, McDonald’s announced ‘tasty improvements’ were coming, with updates on the Big Mac, McDouble, cheeseburger, double cheeseburger and hamburger on the horizon.

The amendments include ‘softer, pillowy buns’, meltier cheese, and white onions cooked into patties for ‘juicier, caramelised flavor’.

The Big Mac will get extra treatment with more sauce being used for an enhanced ‘tangy sweetness’.

These are the first major recipe changes since 2018, when the brand switched from frozen to fresh patties.

Chad Schafer, chef and senior director of culinary innovation for the brand, said: ‘I’ll always remember my first burger from McDonald’s.

‘And now my culinary team and I have the best job in the world: thinking about ways to bring even more of that iconic McDonald’s taste to fans.’

The new recipes will be coming first to McDonald’s chains across America this year.

In fact, they’ve already started to introduce new items in some cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and Tucson.

As for the rest of the nation, the updated burgers will arrive by next year.

Already some of the changes have come to Australia, Canada and Belgium – and to ‘rave reviews,’ apparently.

‘We found that small changes, like tweaking our process to get hotter, meltier cheese and adjusting our grill settings for a better sear, added up to a big difference in making our burgers more flavorful than ever,’ said Chad.

Along with these changes, the Hamburgler is said to be coming back – so it’s not all out with the old, in with the new.

Sadly, Brits will have to try the new recipes on their travels, as a McDonald’s spokesperson told Metro.co.uk there are currently no plans to bring the changes here.
