Actress and yoga instructress Maxene Magalona said that she had a difficult past as she recounted the trials she went through. However, she’s learned to let go of her past to become the strong-willed woman that she is today.

Magalona mused about how she “cried a little for my inner child yesterday” in her Instagram post.

“Not because I was triggered or sad but just that I felt so proud and grateful. Yes, there is still some pain when I remember all the hardships and struggles that I went through but now that I’m in this current chapter of my life, I can’t help but be proud of the old me and the strength and resilience that it took for me to get to where I am today,” she said.

She recalled that “shame and guilt are two of the most difficult feelings that I ever had to work through in my healing journey.”

And the best way “to make peace with your painful past and forgive yourself for all the mistakes and poor choices that you made is definitely something that will require a lot of effort and hard work.”

This, she said, is the reason why most people refuse to do it. “Facing your pain and feeling your shame and guilt SUCKS (but) it is incredibly healing and rewarding… The prize you get when you consistently do the work to heal your pain will be your authentic higher self,” she said.

“The problem is—you keep allowing your past to define you when everyday, you get the chance to renew and revitalize yourself. Let the pain of the past go and allow the lessons that you learned in your struggles to strengthen you and make you the best version of yourself today,” she added. EDV
