Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has admitted he has no interest in breaking records at this point in his career, he just wants a world title to his name – as the former championship leader looks to beat Lewis Hamilton to the crown.
Verstappen already has a few records to his name, and during the triple-header of France and the two races in Austria he picked up two more.
The Dutchman became the youngest driver to claim a grand slam at a race (pole, race win, fastest lap, and leading every lap) and also became the first driver to ever win all three races of a triple-header.
Yet, Verstappen says it’s not something he concerns himself with.
“I’m not focussed on records, my aim is to win the championship, for me that’s the only one that matters,” the Red Bull driver said. “The wins in Austria were very nice. The win in Monaco was also very nice as well, to be honest, there have been quite a few nice ones so far this season.”

Verstappen meanwhile praised his team-mate, Sergio Perez, this season, who joined Red Bull at the start of the season.
“He’s a great teammate, the first few months have been good together,” continued Verstappen.
“We get on very well, he’s a really cool guy and we can have a good chat about anything, not just racing. That’s always a great thing to have.”
Hamilton now leads the way by eight points over Verstappen as he looks to become the most decorated driver in F1 history.
