Matthew McConaughey’s mum Kay has turned 90 and the actor celebrated his mother’s milestone birthday with a sweet post.
The actor, 52, took to Instagram to share a photo of Kay looking like a birthday queen in an ombre shirt, tiara and sash which read: ’90 & fabulous’.
He shared her secrets to a long life, writing alongside it: ‘Ma Mac McConaughey at 90 today— livin on joy, forgiveness, resistance, and “not being able to imagine not being here.” – Happy birthday mom.’
Fans were quick to flood Matthew’s comments with well-wishes for the occasion, complimenting Kay on how glam she looked for her birthday.
They posted: ‘If that is 90 YES please! She’s Beautiful!’ and ‘Wow! If that’s what 90 looks like I’m in! She’s a beautiful! But most importantly her smile is from the inside out!’
Others added: ‘Happy Birthdayyyy.. she looks amazing’ and ‘Happy Birthday Mrs Kay!! You’re so beautiful!! I hope to age as gracefully and gorgeously as you!’
She revealed during an appearance on the Red Table Talk in 2020 that it was ‘really, really lovely’ living with her son and his family in Austin, Texas during quarantine.
Kay said at the time: ‘I’m enjoying so much being around my grandchildren. I’m very comfortable with them/ Matthew is a very good son. I tell him that all the time. He’s good to me.’
Matthew also revealed to the Washington Football Team that same year that far from having to slow down to cater for his mother, she was the one keeping them on their toes.
He joked at the time: ‘We’re good man, we’re down here in Texas. We’ve got my Mom over here, she’s 88, I cannot keep up with her!
‘I’ve got three kids, they’re redecorating rooms. I’m getting to know my pets better. I know where the water main line is on the property now, and I didn’t know it before. I know a whole lot more about my house and my family than I did two months ago!’
Camila had also shared a tribute to mark Kay turning 90, writing: ‘Cheers to the woman who always tells it like it is, loves a good glass of Chardonnay, and keeps us all laughing!
