Matt Hancock ‘dumps agent search’ after I’m A Celeb success, reports

Matt Hancock, 44, reportedly asked his celebrity friends which agent should represent him as he continues his newfound showbiz career since coming third on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! However, reports say he has now abandoned his search for an agent.

According to the Mirror, friends of the former health secretary claimed that the politician was hoping to follow in the footsteps of former Labour MP Ed Balls.

Since taking part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2016, Ed has taken on a successful TV career including as a regular presenter on Good Morning Britain.

A friend of Matt’s also told the publication that it is “unlikely” Matt will ever achieve national treasure status.

However, a spokesperson for Matt says he has had “lots of offers” but “turned them all down”.

They said: “Matt has had lots of offers from agents wanting to represent him, but he’s turned them all down as he doesn’t want or need an agent.”

Express.co.uk has contacted Matt Hancock’s representatives for comment.

It comes as his new book, Matt Hancock’s Pandemic Diaries: The Inside Story of Britain’s Battle Against Covid, plummeted in sales since it was released earlier this month.

The aforementioned publication reported that it entered the Nielsen book charts at number 191, but has since dropped so far that it is no longer in the top 1000.

Matt surprised many when he soared to third place on the show, behind just Lioness Jill Scott and Hollyoaks’ Owen Warner.

He had the Conservative whip removed after signing up to the show and has now announced that he will be standing down as an MP at the next election.

In a letter to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak earlier this month, Matt said he was “incredibly proud of what we achieved in my nine years in government”.

He concluded that he now wants to “do things differently”, saying he has “discovered a whole new world of possibilities which I am excited to explore”.
