Matt Hancock will be buried alive in tonight’s terrifying Bushtucker trial on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here.
The former health minister will take on his sixth trial in Monday night’s episode, as he looks set to break records.
In a preview of Monday’s episode, the MP for West Suffolk faces the Deserted Down Under trial and is tasked with unlocking 11 stars in 11 minutes to earn meals for his campmates.
Lying on his back in an underground chamber, Hancock can be seen frantically searching in boxes containing spiders and cockroaches for keys to unlock padlocks containing stars.
He doesn’t get off to a good start, saying: ‘I can’t find anything,’ with co-host Declan Donnelly saying: ‘Feel all around for the keys’.
During the trial, Hancock notices a snake near his face in the chamber, helpfully saying to himself: ‘That’s a snake.’
While Hancock has been voted for a string of consecutive trials, some viewers are getting pretty fed up of watching him, including Lorraine Kelly, who admitted she was less than impressed with ‘the Matt Hancock Show’.
Last night, viewers also unexpectedly picked the former health secretary as a finalist in the race to be camp leader.
Mike Tindall, the other finalist, and Hancock were blindfolded and had to follow their deputies’ instructions to switch on lights, with Hancock and Charlene triumphing.
‘Does this win feel sweet, especially after you lost to Boris?’ Charlene asked. He replied: ‘This more than makes up for it.’
As Hancock then dished out chores, Lioness Jill Scott quipped: ‘Are these guidelines or rules?’
The MP clarified: ‘These are rules. This is the law of the jungle, Jill.’
It was another eventful episode for the sitting MP, who also got stung by a scorpion – although ITV clarified that he was fine following a visit to the medic.
As for whether he’ll be voted for another trial – or even voted out of the jungle soon, with eliminations closing in, only time will tell.
