Many fans flooded the star’s social media with comments like “sending big hugs and love”.
One penned: “No matter how many years we have with our pets it is not enough. So so for your loss of Isla, I’m sure Paul O’Grady will look after her for you.”
Matt later commented: “The reason we love dogs so much is the only time they break our hearts is when they leave us.”
The former Blue Peter presenter, who documented his family life in the series Matt Baker: Our Farm in the Dales, regularly shares the behind-the-scenes of his life and the animals on social media.
Feeding some hungry lambs in his latest post, he revealed that he would appear in Travels in the Country USA on Wednesday evenings.
He posted: “TONIGHTS the first episode of ‘Travels in The Country USA’ – if you fancy a trip to rural America to meet some wonderful people doing incredible things join me on More4 at 9 o’clock.
“Thank you to More4 and my wonderful team who’ve helped me to make this fantastic series, the heart of those on and off screen shines through x.
“If like me you are fascinated by the countryside of our beautiful world and it’s people, then this is the series for you #farmlife #countryside #usa #roadtrip @channel4 #television.” (sic)
The series will follow a similar theme to the UK version but with a focus on Southern states, starting with Florida.
Matt will then travel to Texas, Arizona and California to “see how other countryfolk live in their parts of the world”,
“I had a brilliant time making it, and honestly, the people that I met, the places I have been,” he said whilst previewing the new series.
The short video showcased scenic views of the US, Matt riding a tractor and posing with a cowboy hat.
Matt’s fans were quick also to share their support for the series, which aired on April 12.
For fans missing his British adventures, he revealed: “More UK travels coming soon! X,” following the tour with his parents last year to film the four-part series Travels with Mum and Dad.
