PAST RESULTS BETWEEN AUS AND USA
Australia and the USA clash regularly, but 2021 has played host to even more matches than usual.
Two matches at the Tokyo Olympic Games, including the USA’s 4-3 win over Australia in the bronze-medal decider, have seen the Americans continue to mount a strong record against the Matildas.
Australia have registered just one win from 31 meetings against the USA – a 1-0 victory at the 2017 Tournament of Nations in Seattle on the back of a Tameka Yallop goal.

The five most recent showdowns between the two sides have resulted in that breakthrough Matildas victory, two USA wins and two draws. In what’s potentially a sign of entertaining football to come, the USA won those two games 5-3 and 4-3.
Australia and the USA will compete in their respective continental tournaments in 2022, during which the Americans will aim to qualify for the 2023 World Cup, set to be held in Australia and New Zealand.
STAT ATTACK
Superstar Matildas striker Sam Kerr sits just one goal behind Socceroos legend Tim Cahill on the all-time Australian goal-scoring leaderboard.
Kerr found the back of the net in a 2-2 draw with Brazil at Parramatta’s CommBank Stadium on October 26 to move to 49 goals in Matildas colours.
