Masters of the Universe: Revelation Reveals Skeletor’s DEADLIEST Weapon
In the first issue of the Masters of the Universe: Revelation prequel comic, the Netflix revival gives Skeletor his deadliest weapon yet.
WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Masters of the Universe: Revelation #1 by Kevin Smith, Rob David, Tim Sheridan, Mindy Lee, Rico Renzi, Kathleen Barnett, and Deron Bennett, on sale now.
Throughout the history of Masters of the Universe, Skeletor has tried time and time again to unlock any and every power source available to defeat Eternia’s champion, He-Man, and rule the planet. He’s used his magical Havoc Staff, soldiers such as Evil-Lyn, and just about any mystical relic he can find, even trying to weaponize Castle Grayskull’s power at one point.
Unfortunately for him, He-Man and his allies have always managed to triumph. However, in the first issue of the Masters of the Universe: Revelation prequel comic, the Netflix reboot offers Skeletor his deadliest weapon yet.
This weapon turns out to be the Orlax of Primeria, an interdimensional Cthulhu-like being that can traverse time and space to literally be two places at the same time. It first strikes in Eternia’s present-day, with the tentacled beast poisoning King Randor. Just as He-Man is about to engage the creature, it disappears, and Sorceress suspects it has had contact with the Sword of Power.
With her powers waning, the Sorceress is unable to heal the king of his magic-resistant wounds. This convinces her to use the Cosmic Corridor to send He-Man and his Power Sword through time to get answers. When He-Man gets to the past, the Orlax is already causing chaos as it’s killed King Grayskull’s son, D’Are.
This all culminates with both Grayskull and He-Man using their swords to attack the beast, only for the creature to disappear. The big revelation comes in the final act with Skeletor showing that he and Evil-Lyn previously formed a mental connection with the creature that now appears to have been severed.
The Orlax may have fled to a different timeline but Skeletor might have an advantage in the form of the tentacle He-Man took back to the Sorceress. It’s in a cell, having grown into a full-blown Orlax. This means that the villain might have more than one Orlax to use if he can pluck them from the timestream.
Seeing as they appear more powerful than Sorceress and are capable of killing Eternia’s royalty, it might be that Skeletor could be using these monsters in a temporal assassination scheme to destroy the Grayskull bloodline, ensuring the Sword of Power is lost in the past and He-Man never comes into existence. Only time will tell if Skeletor can regain full control of the powerful creature, which could spell disaster for He-Man and his allies in both the past and the present.
