Maruti Suzuki Breeza is now less fuel-efficient. Read why

India’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki’s popular sub-4 meter compact SUV, the Brezza, has undergone significant changes in its lineup. As per ToI report, the automaker has silently removed the ‘Smart Hybrid’ technology from the manual variants of the popular SUV, leaving the mild-hybrid system exclusive to the automatic versions.

As per the report, this decision has resulted into a slight drop in fuel efficiency for the manual version. With the mild-hybrid tech, the Brezza MT had a claimed fuel efficiency of up to 20.15 kmpl, which has now dropped at 17.38 kmpl for the manual version. Meanwhile, the automatic variants with the mild-hybrid tech maintain their claimed fuel efficiency at 19.80 kmpl.

Additionally, Maruti Suzuki has introduced seatbelt reminders for all five seats as standard, enhancing safety. However, certain safety features, including Electronic Stability Program and Hill-Hold Assist, have been removed from the Brezza CNG variant and will now only be available in the non-CNG models.

Despite these changes, there have been no price revisions for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The car will continue to be available in the prices range of Rs 8.29 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti had initially offered Breeza as a diesel-only SUV, but the current second-gen model is available with a sole 1.5-litre K15C four-cylinder petrol engine, along with an optional CNG kit. This engine has been offered with a 48V mild-hybrid system that offers a slight torque boost, as well as better efficiency thanks to an idle start-stop system.
